The year`s highlights
– Beriut`s Zareh Nouber scouts visit and camp in Cairo and Alexandria
– Resumption of regular basketball tournaments: HMEM Nubar Cairo organises its first 6th October anniversary tournament which is held regularly every year until nowadays.
– HMEM Nubar Cairo continues to dominate the Egyptian Armenian basketball scene in 1974
– Beirut`s HMM strong basketball team plays against HMEM Nubar Cairo and is defeated 78-82.

HMEM Nubar Alexandria: Scouts movement: celebration of Mardi Gras, prize for best outfit. Gala des Amateurs

Friday 15 March
AGBU Cairo: at the Union’s headquarters, Mesrobian Lecture evening with Rev. Hovannes Ahmaranian on Science and Faith.

AGBU Alexandria: General Assembly and elections at the headquarters

Thursday 21 & Sunday 24 March
HMEM Nubar Cairo: Armenian inter-clubs table tennis tournament on the Nubar Balayan Challenge cup, under the auspices of Mr & Mrs Bedros Bediguian. After the competition, dancing evening with The Invaders band. Free entrance.
Participating clubs: Near East, Goganian, Entertsasrah, HMEM Nubar Cairo and Alex, Ararat, Kegharvestasiradz. Winner Kegharvestasiradz.

Sunday 31 March
HMEM Nubar Cairo: friendly basketball match between HMEM Nubar Cairo and the Water Company

Monday 15 April
HMEM Nubar Cairo Celebration of Sham el Nessim. Egyotian breakfast and dance. Kermesse. Dance in the evening with The Ranchis Dance Band. Entrance fee: 25 piasters.

Friday 31 May
HMEM Nubar Cairo: Opening of the summer season, open buffet. Armenian and Western songs.

Sunday 2 June
AGBU Alexandria: reception for the veteran members in Dikran Yergat hall, under the auspices of Arch Zaven Tchintchinian and the Presidency of Mr and Mrs Hovannes Kehyaian, President of AGBU Egypt District committee.

Friday 14 June
AGBU Cairo: interview with Mr Varoujan Yerevan around the play of “Medzabadiv Mouratsganer” played in English.

Sunday 14 July
HMEM Nubar Cairo: Partial resumption of basketball tournaments after a short stoppage because of the 6th October war.

Friday 26 to Sunday 28 July
HMEM Nubar Alexandria: Pan-Armenian basketball tournament on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of HMEM (1924- 1974), under the auspices of Mr Vahan Alexanian. Participating clubs: HMEM Nubar Cairo and Alex, Ararat, Gamk, Near East, St. Therese.
Final: HMEM Nubar Cairo / St. Therese 51-34.

HMEM Nubar Alexandria grand ball on the occasion of the jubilee at the Yacht Club with the Silver Ties band

HMEM Nubar Alexandria: Two day Excursion to Sidi Abdel Rahman

September 15 to 22
HMEM Nubar Cairo scouts movement: 7-day visit of the “Zareh-Nubar” scouts from Lebanon. Camping at the club. A basketball match is played on Friday 20 with the scouts of HMEM Nubar Cairo. After the game, campfire.
Closing ceremony and Kharouygahantes on 22nd September

Sunday 22 to Tuesday 24 September
HMEM Nubar Alexandria scouts movement: Camping of the “Zareh-Nubar” scouts from Lebanon. Trip to Ma’amoura beach, Sightseeing tour of Alexandria, Greek gardens. Kharouygahantes on 24 September.

Wednesday 2 October
HMEM Nubar Cairo: Friendly basketball match between HMEM Nubar Cairo / HOMENMEN Beirut 82/78. Homenmen Beirut is one of the strongest teams of Lebanon and is visiting Egypt upon an invitation by El Shorta team.

Friday 4 to Sunday 6 October
HMEM Nubar Cairo: on the occasion of the first anniversary of the glorious victory, inter-cities basketball tournament under the auspices of Cairo Governor and the Presidency of Mr and Mrs Dikran Boghosian.
Result: HMEM Nubar Cairo win the cup. Best player: Ara Vosgueritchian. Team coach: Captain Nabil.

Sunday 24 November
HMEM Nubar Cairo: tournament organised by the basketball federation for the A group. National Sporting/ Police and HMEM Nubar Cairo/ Heliopolis Sporting Club

Sunday 8 December
AGBU Cairo: Celebration of Mr Alec Manougian’s 20th Jubilee as Honorary President of AGBU and reception for the veteran members.

Saturday 14 December
HMEM Nubar Cairo Celebration of Sourp Hagop, with dinner prepared by the ladies’ committee, games, surprises etc.. lottery with a first prize Cairo-Kuwait return ticket. Live band. Entrance fees: 2 LE. Free entrance for all Hagops …
