AGBU’s Groung choir on tour in Jordan and Syria

– 30 orphans of the December earthquake in Armenia are invited by AGBU Egypt to spend 2 weeks in Egypt.

Thursday 18 to Thursday 26 January
AGBU Cairo’s Groung choral and conductor Haig Sarkissian go on tour to Amman, Damascus and Aleppo. Mr and Mrs Berge Terzian chairman of AGBU Egypt’s District Committee and Mr and Mrs Norair Doevletion chairman of AGBU’s Cairo Chapter were at the head of the delegation.
The performances of Groung are a great success in both countries.

AGBU is accepted by the United Nations as a non-political organisation. The Union will have the opportunity to take part in the open meetings of the UN.

Sunday 19 March
AGBU Alexandria: Performance of Kousan singing group under the conductor Haig Sarkissian and piano Mrs Zvart Kalaydjian at the Melkonian Hall of Boghosian School, under the auspices of Arch, Zaven Tchintchinian, presided by General Consul Vahan Alexanian.

HMEM Nubar Cairo scouts and guides visit the Aydzemnig home for the elderly on the occasion of Mothers day

Thursday 23 March
AGBU: opening of the AGBU’s 12th Navasartian Games in HMEM Nubar Cairo with a total of nearly 235 sportsmen and sportswomen among whom:
– 50 delegates from Lebanon headed by Mr and Mrs Mike Mardirian member of AYA and East Mediterranean Youth Committee.
– 46 delegates from Cyprus headed by Mr and Mrs Hratch Manougian chairman of AGBU and East Mediterranean Youth Committee,
– 45 delegates from AYA Aleppo headed by two members of the East Mediterranean committee, Mr and Mrs Hrair Mouradian and Hagop Michaelian, chairman of AYA Aleppo committee,
– 35 delegates from AYA Damascus headed by Mr and Mrs Souren Haroutiounian chairman of the East Mediterranean committee and member of AYA Damascus, – 15 delegates from Amman National Sports Union, headed by Mr and Mrs Antranig Lepedjian chairman of the Union,
– 15 delegates from Athens headed by Mr Dikran Abassian chairman of AGBU Athens,
The Navasartian Games in Cairo include basketball, football and table tennis.

Friday 24 March
HMEM Nubar Cairo: programme presented by the Police troupes and a show of their guard dogs.

Saturday 25 March
AGBU Cairo and Alex: performance of Cairo’s Groung and Alexandria’s Kousan choirs on the occasion of the Navasartian Games at the Goumhouria theatre.
In the evening, grand ball at the Ramses Hilton Hotel with. Live performance of The Ghosts Band and singer George Gorgodian with the presence of around 500 guests.

Sunday 26 March
AGBU Navasartian games: Easter Mass at the St. Gregory church, final competitions in the afternoon followed by distribution of prizes and entertainment.

Men’s basketball 2nd category: winner Cyprus,
Women’s basketball: winner AYA Aleppo.
Football: winner HMEM Nubar Cairo.
Men’s table tennis: winner HMEM Nubar Cairo
Men’s table tennis single: winner Kevork Avanian from HMEM Nubar Cairo
Women’s table tennis single: winner Lucy Aredjian from AYA Aleppo.

HMEM Nubar Alexandria, basketball matches between HMEM Nubar Alexandria and Cairo teams under the auspices of Arch. Zaven Tchintchinian and Mr and Mrs Antranig Mesrobian. Cup is offered by Mr and Mrs Sarkis Vartsbedian. Medals offered by Mr and Mrs Vart Alexanian.

AGBU Cairo: 30 orphans of Armenia’s earthquake are invited along with 3 supervisors by AGBU Egypt to spend 2 weeks in Egypt. They are accommodated at the HMEM Nubar Cairo club. Cairo’s and Alexandria’s scouts and guides participate in this camping.
A special committee is formed on this occasion formed of Messrs Berge Terzian, Norair Deovletian, Hratch Simonian and Drs. Viken Djizmedjian and Garo Apkarian to be in charge of all technical aspects of organization which is entrusted for implementation to the scouts movement of HMEM Nubar Cairo

16 – 24 September
HMEM Nubar Cairo football tournament: with the participation of 20 teams. Cups offered by Mr. & Mrs. Hrayr Djeghalian and Dr. & Mrs Kevork Erzingatsian. Medals offered by Mr. & Mrs. Viken Varjabedian

Sunday 8 October
HMEM Nubar Cairo Sports Day with HMEM Nubar Alexandria under the auspices of Mr and Mrs Hagop Ekserjian.
The men’s basketball cup is offered by Mr and Mrs Krikor Shahbenderian. The women’s basketball cup is offered by Mr and Mrs Norair Doevletian. The table tennis cup is offered by Mr and Mrs Mardig Balayan and the medals by Mr and Mrs Jirair Dertadian.
Results: Cairo’s table tennis team winner 3-1, Alex women’s basketball team winner by 39/28, whereas Cairo’s basketball men’s team defeated Alex with 42/27.

HMEM Nubar Cairo: Basketball tournament of the Egyptian Federation in HMEM Nubar club. HMEM Nubar Heliopolis wins the first match against Tayaran by 50/43. In the second match, HMEM Nubar Heliopolis loses to Talebeya 29/58
