On Friday July 21st, HMEM Nubar Alexandria hosted its annual basketball tournament, kick-starting the 2023 tournament season. The tournament which lasted until Sunday July 23rd, was attended by community members from Cairo and Alexandria who gathered in a friendly, fun and competitive atmosphere to watch and cheer for their teams.
The tournament was held under the auspices of his grace Bishop Ashod Menatsaganian, the Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Egypt and under the presidency of Dr. and Mrs. George Simonian, the Chairman of AGBU Cairo Chapter. The men’s cup was offered by Mrs. Nevart Toutounjian, in memory of Serop Toutounjian, while the women’s cup was offered by Mrs. Alice Atamian-Ortchanian and the tournament medals were offered by Mr. and Mrs. Vart Alexanian.

Not only did the teams and fans enjoy multiple games played daily during the tournament weekend, but also got to socialize and dance while enjoying great music at the “Night by the sea” party hosted by HMEM Nubar Alexandria on Saturday July 22nd at Olive Island.
