AGBU Cairo has just published the 7th Volume of its series of publications on “Armenia and Armenians in the Arab Press from 1876 to 1893”, The book is entitled “Conventions and Treaties 1919 -1923” and is published in 595 pages (in Arabic language) and includes all articles that have been written in the Arab Press during that critical period of time.
It is to be noted that the project which comes in 12 volumes is in its final stages and was initiated in 2001 when AGBU Cairo started to document this important era of the Armenian people’s modern & contemporary history based on news and articles published in Egyptian and Arabic publications existing in the archives of the Egyptian National Library. AGBU Cairo had entrusted this task to a group of researchers headed by Dr. Mohamed Refaat Al Imam, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History of Egypt’s Damanhour University, to scan through all the Arabic publications archived in the Egyptian National Library and elsewhere.
The number of the publications and journals which were photocopied and utilized reached 383 periodicals which existed during the above mentioned period.
The research resulted in the obtainment of 36000 texts written in the Egyptian and Arab press about Armenia and Armenians during the period 1876 to 1923.
A specialized website was created for this purpose: www.arminmedia.com with a search engine which allows researchers to find articles based on date, subject, periodical or keywords.
The book and and all published volumes can be downloaded from here or copies can be requested from AGBU Cairo
