Երէկ Ուրբաթ, 16 Նոյեմբեր 2018-ի երեկոյեան եգիպտահայութեան որոշ մէկ մասը փութացած էր Պըլըքտանեան սրահ, Եգիպտոսի Հայոց Առաջնորդարանին հրաւէրով, իր ողջերթի խօսքը ըսելու ՀՀ Եգիպտոսի դեսպան դոկտ. Արմէն Մելքոնեանի եւ իր ազնիւ տիկնոջ եւ լսելու անոր հրաժեշտի խօսքը:
Գաղութիս Բարեջան Առաջնորդ Աշոտ Սրբ. Եպիսկոպոս իր բացման խօսքին մէջ վեր հանեց մեծայարգ դոկտ. Արմէն Մելքոնեան դեսպանին, ապա մարդուն արժանիքները, ըսաւ թէ ան պաշտօնական գործակցութենէն անդին եղած է նաեւ լաւ բարեկամ մը եւ ցաւ յայտնեց անոր մեկնումին համար: Ապա հրաւիրեց Թեմական եւ Քաղաքական ժողովներու ատենապետները դեսպանին յանձնելու յիշատակի եւ գնահատանքի արծաթեայ սկուտեղ մը:
Իր հրաժեշտի խօսքին մէջ մեծարգոյ դեսպանը անդրադարձաւ այն երեք տարիներուն, երբ առաջին անգամ կու գար Եգիպտոս որպէս հիւպատոս, ապա կրկին գալու եւ ինը տարիներ շարունակ ծառայելու հայրենիքին, որպէս անոր դեսպանը:
«Ինծի համար,- ըսաւ դոկտ. Արմէն Մելքոնեան,- Եգիպտոսը սովորական աշխատանքային վայր-երկիր մը ըլլալէ աւելի, ճակատագիր դարձած է, որովհետեւ այստեղ է որ այնքան բան սորված եմ, բայց մանաւանդ տեսած եմ արդիւնքը այն ճիգերուն, որոնք ձեզի հետ միասնաբար ի գործ դրինք, Հայաստանը, հայ ժողովուրդն ու հայոց Ցեղասպանութիւնը ներկայացնելու Եգիպտոսի եթէ ոչ ամբողջ ժողովուրդին, ապա գոնէ անոր մտաւորական դասակարգին: Ուրախ եմ, որ բարձրագոյն մակարդակի վրայ սկսած է բարեկամական յարաբերութիւն մը ծաղկիլ մեր երկու երկիրներուն միջեւ»:
Ներկաները առիթ ունեցան զրուցելու պարոն դեսպանին հետ, իրենց ողջերթի եւ յաջողութեան մաղթանքները ընելու եւ յիշատակի նկարներ ունենալու:
Yesterday Friday 16 November 2018, Egyptian-Armenian community members gathered at the Belekdanian Hall in Heliopolis, upon an invitation from the Armenian Prelacy of Egypt, to attend the parting reception and to bid farewell to the Ambassador of Armenia to Egypt, Dr. Armen Melkonian and to his wife.
The community’s Prelate, His Grace Bishop Ashod Mnatsaganian, in his opening remarks, paid tribute to Dr. Armen Melkonian, pointing out his merits and value. He expressed his regret for the ambassador’s departure, who besides their official formal collaboration was a personal close friend of his. He then invited the chairmen of the Community Council and the Executive committees to hand out a commemorative plate to Dr. Melkonian.
In his farewell speech, the Ambassador took a quick recall on his service years in Egypt, starting with the three years as consul, then his return as ambassador for nine continuous years.
“For me,” stated the Ambassador, “Egypt is more than a usual place or country of work. It was destiny, because it’s here that I have learned so much, and it’s here that I have seen the results of the efforts that we had worked so hard to achieve together to protect and to best represent the interests of Armenia, the Armenian people and the Armenian Genocide,” Dr. Melkonian added “I am really glad that we were able to have Armenia and the Armenian question better known to people here, if not to all, then at least to the intellectual class. I am glad that during my years here, friendly relations have flourished at the highest level between our two countries. ”
Later on, the presence had the opportunity to talk separately with the ambassador to wish him success, and to take memorable pictures whether individually or collectively.
