SARKIS TOSSOUNIAN (1953-

Studied sculpting academically in the Fine Arts Faculty of Alexandria (1974-1979). His true beginning asa professional sculptor was in 1980, when he created small statues made of either aluminum or bronze, but starting from 1988 he produced middIe-sized bronze statues distinguished by alternating contrasting surfaces of soft and rough textures. In his works he essentially introduces different human situations in society and existence. His art is a Stylized Expressionism having a tendency towards a monumentality evolved from ancient Egyptian art.
