Arakel Badrig (1894-1984)

Writer, painter and ethnographer, who also for around ten years became an art teacher (in Cairo and Nicosia), his full name was Arakel Neshan Badriarkian, but was known as Arakel Badrig. He was born in Sivas (Sebastia) in Turkey, on 28th November 1894. His primary education was acquired in the Aramian School at his birthplace. Being a young man during the tragedy of 1915, he reached Konia along with many Armenians. There he accidentally having discovered a precious old Turkish rug was saved from persecution.
